Week 1 Lecture Reflection

I'm coming into this course as an experience software developer interested in the art and architecture of game design. I hope this course will improve my knowledge of architectural design in the virtual space, which will benefit any future level design in my games. Today's lecture highlighted some interesting works from previous years, giving a general direction I can aim for in my own efforts.
CryENGINE is a very interesting development tool not unlike others I have had experience with (Unreal, Unity). Unlike the others, it places more importance on design with a natural environment in mind. While Unity and Unreal provide simplistic, sharp, primitive shapes such as Cubes and Triangles, this engine focuses on environment details like rain, sunlight, water and foliage effects.
